The Baseball Park - Our very own Yard!

Last fall, we discovered the baseball park near Kiessee. It is a beautiful ball diamond with luscious green grass. We don't have any yard area with our apartment so having a green space to go to that is wide open like our yard in Youngsville is really nice. Now that it is warming up some, we have started going there again. Warming up being relative. Most days are still hovering in the mid 50s.

Not many Germans play baseball so the field isn't used that often. In fact, we had such a gorgeous day recently on a Monday that we spontaneously went down to grill burgers. Side note - they were the best burgers we've eaten since leaving North Carolina. While we are there, we often play pickle, soccer, ultimate, football...anything the boys feel like doing. This particular Monday, we decided on Ultimate and were in the middle of a game when people began showing up at the other side of the field. Ended up being Göttingen's Ultimate team. They kindly invited us to play with them and we politely declined! They looked professional in comparison to our little family game. All that to say, the field isn't used much for baseball so usually it is a safe bet for enjoying a "yard" for a while.

Kaufland sells disposable grills that we buy to take with us. Usually, it is
Brats as they are easy to cook but this time, I made hamburgers - it was a
tight fit for that size of a grill but oh-so good! We always camp out right
beside one of the dug-outs as we've had to seek shelter from the rain on
more than one occasion.

~ Ultimate Frisbee ~

The boys developed a game they call Monkey-in-the-Middle with the
soccer ball. Three of them form a triangle and have to pass the ball around
without the monkey kicking it away from them. It is fun to watch them
play. We've played this as a family and then the Monkey also gets to use his
hands to stop the ball as it can be difficult to get out of the middle otherwise.

Noah better pay attention or he will soon be the monkey!

One thing the boys have loved about playing sports at this field is that they
can go barefoot here. Their feet are so tender now that they wear shoes every
day! They are wondering how long it will take them to toughen up once home.
